STORY
STORY
When it comes to pottery, Rufina is a rare and exceptional artisan.
Her small-batch creations—ranging from elegant candle holders and sculptural clay pots to uniquely crafted incense holders—are deeply valued for their beauty, authenticity, and spirit.
Rufina’s work is more than craft; it’s an extension of her soul. She digs the clay herself, feeling its texture with hands that have inherited generations of knowledge. She mixes, shapes, and fires each piece with a reverence that speaks to her ancestral roots. Her heart and hands move as one—drawing out the quiet magic of Oaxacan earth and shaping it into something truly timeless.
Years later, while absentmindedly plucking petals from a rose, something stirred. The rhythm of her ancestors called her back to the wax, the flame, and the craft that had shaped generations before her.
Today, her smooth taper candles are available in black, gray, green, white, and a warm natural honey hue. Her exquisite specialty candles come in five distinct styles and a rich palette of colors—each one a testament to heritage, craftsmanship, and quiet devotion.

RUFINA
Born in Santa María Atzompa, Rufina has always carried a deep sense of purpose.
“I knew what I was going to do even before I was born,” she says. “Artisans are made in the womb.”
A truly exceptional potter, Rufina’s small-batch creations are highly prized for their craftsmanship and soul. But her impact goes far beyond the clay.
With quiet determination, she works to preserve the pottery centers of Atzompa and safeguard the livelihoods of the artisans who depend on them. Change doesn’t happen on its own—it takes someone like Rufina to carry forward an ancient tradition, ensuring it doesn't vanish into history but continues to thrive for generations to come.
